Whiston & St Helens Hospitals
About
These new build hospitals over two sites were mainly concrete frame and no structural protection was required. The buildings were typical of a hospital being very highly serviced and liaison with dry-liners and M&E contractors was vital to ensure that our works were carried out at the optimum time to minimise costly re-works.
One problem which arose involved a UPVC pipework system running above suspended ceiling level which required a flexible fireprotection solution. A fire curtain conventionally used for dividing ceiling voids was assessed, fire tested and installed around the pipes to give a cost effective and unique solution and avoid delays to the project.
