Fire Stopping

Compartmentation of buildings to prevent the passage of fire, smoke, sound and air/energy has become increasingly important in modern construction. Working extensively with all leading manufacturers including Promat, Hilti, Rockwool and Firetherm allows us to identify your requirements and ensure that the complexities of combined fire and acoustic ratings are met.

Prominent projects successfully completed include Manchester Royal Infirmary (£3.8m), Whiston & St Helens Hospital (£2.1m) and Knightsbridge Palace Hotel (£277k).

The key to successful completion of this site discipline is timing, co-ordination and traceability. Our quality process plan is simple and effective, with penetrations sealed, labelled, uniquely numbered, photographed and recorded utilising IPCL’s bespoke software app. Client reports and notated layout drawings are available in “live time” to ensure comprehensive, fully transparent records can be implemented into the O+M manuals.

Fire Boarding Projects

Fire Boarding

Board encasement of steelwork, ductwork and other building elements is the preferred method where extended fire ratings are required. These products can offer up to 4 hour protection and are seen by many clients as a more robust and trusted solution. Damage and incorrect installation is far easier to identify in these types of products than spray applied systems.

Mineral fibre systems either foiled or plain are typically used where there is not aesthetic requirements such as in plant rooms and above suspended ceilings.

Rigid boards are generally used when a further decoration is required or high impact resistance is desirable.

Product selection is vital to ensure that the best cost solution for the life of the project is achieved. Other factors which can influence board selection include conditions during installation and expected environmental conditions upon completion.

Site Remedials Projects

Site Remedials

Off-site applied paint has become increasingly popular especially for inner city development. Remedial works to the applied paint systems including transport, erection damage and bolted connections is vital to ensure the integrity of the system. Liaising closely with the steelwork fabricator and principal contractor we have a system for managing the coating system from erection through to handover to ensure that the specification is met.

Decorative finish is the most common challenge we face when dealing with off-site applied coatings. It is far less intensive to spray limited areas on site than patch, fill and redecorate sections which have been decimated with sling and chain marks. We try to advise that any high decorative areas are sent to site in primer only wherever possible.

Recent projects previously undertaken in central London include The Shard, Excel, Heron Tower, Watermark Place, Sea Containers House, Fitzroy Place and Broadgate.

Intumescent Coatings Projects

Intumescent Coatings

IPCL have worked nationwide on numerous large scale projects for all the leading principal contractors, coupled with a successful partnership with the largest steelwork fabricator in the UK for many years. This has allowed IPCL to demonstrate our ability to undertake the application of in excess of 1,000,000m2 of intumescent coatings.

Prominent projects successfully completed include Manchester Royal Infirmary (£3.8m), Whiston & St Helens Hospital (£2.1m) and Knightsbridge Palace Hotel (£277k).
